Amplitude and amplitude variation of emotional speech
نویسندگان
چکیده
The present study introduces a recording technique to maintain all dynamic information of even full-blown emotional speech, and investigates the effect of emotion class, speaker, and sentence type on the amplitude of speech. The results show that the factors emotion class and speaker are highly significant and that the former explains half of the variance while the latter explains only one ninth. Amplitude, as simple as it is, should therefore not be neglected or normalized in acoustic recordings and analyses of emotional speech.

The Function of Pitch Range Variations in Samples of Emotional Expressions in Persian
This study aims at investigating the interface between emotion and intonation patterns (more specifically, duration and pitch amplitude of speech). To this end, the acoustic properties of spectral parameters related to speech prosody are investigated. The results of acoustic and Statistical analysis show that mean level and range of FO in the contours vary strongly as a function of the degree o...
متن کاملAn Acoustic Study of Emotivity-Prosody Interface in Persian Speech Using the Tilt Model
This paper aims to explore some acoustic properties (i.e. duration and pitch amplitude of speech) associated with three different emotions: anger, sadness and joy against neutrality as a reference point, all being intentionally expressed by six Persian speakers. The primary purpose of this study is to find out if there is any correspondence between the given emotions and prosody patterning in P...
متن کاملAuditory Brainstem Response Wave Amplitude Characteristics as a Diagnostic Tool in Children with Speech Delay with Unknown Causes
Speech delay with an unknown cause is a problem among children. This diagnosis is the last differential diagnosis after observing normal findings in routine hearing tests. The present study was undertaken to determine whether auditory brainstem responses to click stimuli are different between normally developing children and children suffering from delayed speech with unknown causes. In this cr...
متن کاملThe Effects of Emotional Content on Phonological Processing in Children Who Stutter
Objectives: Stuttering and phonological processing are mutually related. Emotion is an effective factor in fluency and language processing; however, its underlying neural mechanism remains unclear. Event-Related Potential (ERP) is a non-invasive highly-beneficial method with high time resolution for language processing. The present study aimed to explore phonological processing in emotional wor...
متن کاملContributions of temporal encodings of voicing, voicelessness, fundamental frequency, and amplitude variation to audio-visual and auditory speech perception.
Auditory and audio-visual speech perception was investigated using auditory signals of invariant spectral envelope that temporally encoded the presence of voiced and voiceless excitation, variations in amplitude envelope and F0. In experiment 1, the contribution of the timing of voicing was compared in consonant identification to the additional effects of variations in F0 and the amplitude of v...
